And more of Miss {A}

May 29, 2008

I photographed Miss {A} a little while back at her birthday party, but she wasn’t acting like her normal self (well, none of us do on our birthday’s I think, so I don’t blame her!) and I went back to capture some of her smiley cuteness! And her parents were right, she usually is a smiley little one in front of the camera! I’m so glad she shared it with me this time.

Here are a few of my favorites from the day:

It’s obvious I’ve been neglecting my blog! I was afraid of this, but I will try harder.

Last week I photographed 70 preschoolers at a local preschool. My daughter goes there, and it has been a really fun project for me!! I just love the kids and their individual-ness. SO cute. The shooting days were tons of fun. And everyone has been really great at the school, especially the teachers allowing me to interrupt every few minutes while I grabbed students for their turn. I don’t have many model releases, so I’ll just show you my daughters portrait… most of hers were a little more sassy than I got from other kids. But I love it!!! Of course, the mommy goggles help a bit, I think! And she has a furry little friend in her hands, which is good because otherwise she would be posing them in America’s Next Top Model style. hehe.

Oh and another where you can see her little wooley bear caterpillar she’s hiding. We now have 3 as pets! Yep, that’s right – three! I’m just glad they don’t eat each other.

Pugmania festival

May 13, 2008

I took my kids and pug to the pug festival “pugmania” last weekend. It was a riot! I don’t know of any other bread of dog that does this, but pugs are so non-aggressive it just works to have 100′s of pugs all in one spot. Sure, it works for other breads in the off-leash dog parks but on-lease, well that’s another story. And actually we did leave our other pug, Babushka, home that is just a bit more aggressive on leash (“hold me back, while I get ‘im!”) and she’s not feeling all that well lately too.

Here’s some evidence… these dogs were running around playing. Ooo ooo bet I can lick ya! This was the most active activity I had seen. ha ha! They must be puppies.

Being this event was a fundraiser for the Seattle Pug Rescue organization, we did see quite a few older pugs being toted around in strollers (both kid strollers, and doggie strollers) we saw a fascinating wheelchair device one pug had on, that was cool. And many were being carried in arms. These guys were treated better than our kids! This one looked a little bored in the crate.

There were several funny looking dogs – I love pugs. They all have such personalities.

There was a lot of shakin’ going on, just like any other dog.

And there was a costume contest, the highlight for my kids. They had quite a good time picking their favorites. While there wasn’t a “winner” in the bunch, If I were the judge this one would have taken first place. Very creative! Chinese take-out delivery pug.

And lastly my little guy, Igor. Wearing his “Prince” collar the girls insisted on. He had to dress up somehow, even though we didn’t put together an elaborate costume for him. (He was once a sunflower at his first (and only, up until now) pug fest when he was a puppy. I’ll have to dig that old photo up and scan it… (it was in my pre-digital days) I think I do have that one on a floppy disk though. as if…

Anyway, here is the little gentleman. Isn’t he cute? He did pretty well amongst the dogs, barking, noise, people, etc. He is a shy guy after all.

I just love maternities!!  I’m having really fun with these. I think it’s the emotion that soon-to-be-new parents have or something.  It just feels special!

{M} and {J} these are for you, thanks for inviting me to take portraits at this special time.  :)
