As a parent, it’s difficult sometimes to think outside the box when it comes to halloween treats – all we see when we walk into the grocery store is so much candy. Well recently I was happy to see some affordable choices for halloween at my local target and other stores.
And hey, one kids trash may be another kids treasure! I have tons of long forgotten little treasures of little toys and things received at past birthday parties etc. It may be a good time to dig down to the bottom of the toybox and find some of those items still in good shape and do a little recycling – why not!?
Here are a few ideas (taken from www.greenhalloween.org) to help get you started! Got any spare change? I remember getting pennies or nickles (or a quarter if you were lucky) in my trick or treat bag when I was a kid. I loved that!

* Green Halloween is currently working with a number of food companies to create healthy, affordable, bite-sized versions of their snacks. As these products become available, we will post them here. Be sure to sign up for our mailing list to be the first to learn about these new products. If you have suggestions for food products you would like to see on this list, contact that company directly and let them know about Green Halloween. As more parents like you demand that the ‘treats’ we give our children are healthy, the more healthy-food companies will join in the fun.
