We had a funny week with this Seattle snowstorm.. felt like a week filled with Sundays which isn’t too bad really, having forced downtime.  Makes you sit and think about things which sometimes we really need to be forced to do that.  Also helps you notice little things or take some time to do something different from the daily activities and busyness.  So for a quiet hour, I spent some time outside capturing birds, which I love.  I also sneaked in a few images of my kids which are hard to capture, really really hard to capture being that all they wanted to was to play in the snow or worry about their next activity that will save them from the god-forbidden boredom of nothing-ness.   Yeah, it’s good for them too.  :)

It’s also nice to update my very neglected blog and facebook page with some fresh images.  More to come soon…. I’m nearly done with editing holiday sessions and orders and am looking forward to spending some time with my family and enjoy the holidays.  :)   Hopefully more time to post a few of the recent sessions I’ve been busy with.  Every one of my clients has been great this year!

We met at Bellevue Botanical Gardens for these and I was very pleased with the amount of color, lots and lots of flowers still in bloom and a peak of fall color just coming out.  Now that fall color is pretty much in full swing, round 2 should be just as nice!  Fingers crossed for good weather.  I always get a little nervous about that.

So here is a peek at some of images we created that day!  What stunning families and children!  :)

So so SOOOO adorable!

And later we met in the studio for more sibling and family portraits… poor mom had a bad fall and broke 3 ribs so if you can imagine having to get yourself and your 3 children ready for a session without being able to move much.  We split the session into two, to make sure we capture her little girl for her birthday photos and then meet in the studio once she felt better for the family portraits.  :)   And hopefully Jennifer is fully recovered now.   I thought this one was a great outtake!

And so for what it’s worth,  it’s time for a few things to mention.  First, something I’m not ready to even TALK ABOUT being that it’s still September, LOL (except I did post one thing below, much shame, but I have to get us ready for this and I’d much rather see a blog post than Halloween candy in the supermarket during September) But one must plan ahead! It’s National Costume Swap Day!  I have registered at www.NationalCostumeSwapDay.com – my swap to be held at the studio from 10:30 – 1:30pm on October 8th.  It’s coming right up actually, so please come and join us and swap out last years costume for a “new” one this year.    Everyone who participates in my swap AND the one at Orange Blossom Society in Redmond WA, will get a free portrait in his or her new costume!   Yay!   Last year was super fun, and I looooved taking the kids portraits in their costumes. They really enjoyed it.  I’ll be sending out e-cards and a portrait of each child will be available free of charge.   I’ll have some activities planned too!

Just make choices that are people-healthy, animal-friendly and Earth-conscious.

We‘ll show you how with these 10 simple steps:

  1. Plan ahead to avoid last-minute shopping which often limits your choices.
  2. When it comes to costumes and décor—reuse, borrow, swap, purchase used or do-it-yourself.
  3. Treat bags can be anything! For extra fun, match the bag to the costume using something you already own. Here are some ideas: purses, flower pots (cover the hole), cloth sacks, backpacks, lunchboxes.

  4. Choose healthier treats. Take baby steps with organic candy and honey sticks, two child-favored choices. (Honey is not for children under two years of two).
  5. Choose fun treasures instead of conventional sweets. Think of the treasures your child collects in her pockets—pretty rocks, coins, etc.
  6. If you‘re giving a party, avoid disposables including napkins, plates, cups, tablecloths and other décor.
  7. Walk from house to house instead of driving.
  8. Compost pumpkins and any other food, including leftover candy.
  9. Collect candy wrappers and help your kids turn them into gift items like purses, bracelets and picture frames. Find directions on the internet.
  10.  Avoid purchasing any treats made with palm oil.
